ESPN pushing BS with the BCS

So in 2006 there was a big issue with the possibility of OSU playing Michigan in the “National Championship” game after already playing in the last game of the regular season. Part of the issue was that Michigan was not the Big Ten champion, another was that OSU had already beat Michigan that season. At that time they were saying there were issues with the computers so on and so on.

Now on ESPN, you have the same experts who had an issue with that scenario lobbying hard to see LSU vs Alabama in the BCS “National Championship” game. So Alabama, a team who has already lost to LSU earlier in the season and is not even playing in their conference championship should play LSU again? Nice way to be consistent ESPN.

The Hangover Part II – May 26th
X-Men: First Class – June 3rd
Green Lantern – June 17th
Transformers: Dark of the Moon – July 1st
Captain America: The First Avenger – July 22nd
Fright Night – August 19th

For all the movies being released this summer, check out the IMDB – Summer Movie Guide.

Zodcast: Episode 4

I give a thumbs up/thumbs down of movies from 2011. I also talk about the movies opening this weekend and next weekend. I give an update on the playoff status of the NHL Sabres and NBA Jazz. And end the show talking about a short scene I wrote earlier in the week.

Show notes:

  • The intro and outro music is from multimedia projects I did in college.

A short scene of the corporate world

I got inspired to write a short scene of life in the corporate world. Hopefully its not too bad of a read. I just whipped it up before I went to bed. Maybe I will polish it up. But I wrote it as a TV or Movie script rather than a short story. So that would explain the format. Enjoy.

FADE OUT – CREDITS

Made a few changes to JZdC

I made a few changes to my main website “JonZielinskidotCom” or “Jon’s Loft” as it is currently called. If you visit the site with any frequency, you will know that I haven’t made to many major changes recently. But I did add a few small things here and there recently you may like.

For one, you might notice the phrase “Zodcast” in a few places there, as well as on this blog. The official home of the “Zodcast” is on JZdC. Most of the media content you would find here is hosted on JZdC anyways. For reasons I have mentioned before on this blog, I have to host the media on my regular website. So again, if you come here and have to click another link to get to the Zodcast. I am sorry for the extra step. But I do have a RSS feed for Zodcast you can use to subscribe to Zodcast and listen on what ever place you like.

Another thing you may notice is the “Photos” section. I am going to be hosting my a bulk of my photos on Picasa. I may have other photos on Facebook, Twitter or some other location. But I will try and keep a bulk of them on Picasa. The ease at which I can throw a photo album up is very convenient. Also, you can get the photos in the original size if you want an Picasa. Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites shrink the photos a bit on occasion depending on the size.

Maybe one day I will code my own little web 2.0 site and consolidate all my feeds into one lovely area. I am sort of doing that now in a way with this main page. So feel free to visit me at my other pages which are linked at the top right.

Zodcast: Episode 3

I discuss the crazy weather and crazy basketball brackets. I also give a thumbs up/thumbs down of movies from 2010 (was going to be 2011 starting out).

Show notes:

  • The intro and outro music is from multimedia projects I did in college.

Please click on the ‘Zodcast: Episode 3′ link above to listen. I apologize for the extra step, but the free version of WordPress will not allow me to add a flash widget to listen from this page.

Zodcast: Episode 2

I talk a little about some recent celebrity deaths. A mini round table on the NFL, Utah Jazz and Buffalo Sabres. And potentially getting rid of the cable.

Show notes:

  • The intro and outro music is from multimedia projects I did in college.
  • Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Gough and Nate Dogg died in the previous week.
  • Casting call for friends and family that would want to call in and be part of a Zodcast.
  • The NFL lock out, the season in jeopordy and how it would suck
  • The Utah Jazz going from #3 to #11 in the Westren Division. And might miss the playoffs with 11 games left in the season.
  • The Buffalo Sabres are clinging to #8 in the Eastern Conference with 9 games left in the season.

I’m working on it

So far, I have been to the gym once. How sad. But I did go on Thursday and it went really well. I did 20 minutes on the elliptical and another 20 minutes walking. Now I just need to get on a regular routine. I plan on going tomorrow.

It’s time to get serious…

Earlier today I was RSVP’d for tomorrows screening of “Rango”. I had two passes, one for me and one for the wifey. It just so happened that Tuesday is our movie night with each other. One major reason for that is that most movie places we frequent have discount movie day on Tuesday. It’s nice to be able to see movies that were released the previous week for $6 on a Tuesday. So having free passes to a screening fit very nicely into our regular routine.

That was before 7:30. Around 7:30, the wifey and I got passes to Urban Active. Well, to be more accurate, we got her a pass to Urban Active. I will be riding her coattails as a guest. Just a regular guest… an everyday she works out, I will work out guest. Small price to pay to save some cash. Needless to say, I desperately need to work on my health. I am not 30 anymore. I am borderline obese (in my mind, maybe medically). I am scared to look at the scale, but I have been in the neighborhood of 280 lbs the last few months. That’s 20 stone for my in-laws that are reading. I used to think I was fat when I was around 210-225. But right now that is my first target to get down to. I honestly am scared what is going to happen to me if I do not work on my weight. I often feel tired for no reason. After having a coke, I get really tired and my eyes water. I feel like if I don’t do something soon, diabetes will be in my near future. According to my last check up, I don’t have it yet. Add to that my asthma and other weight related illnesses, I have to make a lifestyle change. So tomorrow begins my (our) first work out. I need to get in the habit of working out on a regular basis.

I also need to make a change in my diet and stick with it. My issue is that I get board with food and go back to comfort food really easily. That also needs to stop. I need to stick with a regular diet. Maybe not a total diet, but better choices than I am currently making.

Hopefully the wifey and I keep each other moving forward towards our goals. I know I need the most help, and I know she will support me more than I am willing to support my self. I know if there is a weak link in achieving our goals, it is me. So it’s time to get serious and hopefully in one years time, I will be down to 210 – 225. And I can look back at this post and remember the day I changed my life for the better. I have tried before. I have worked out at the YMCA on a semi regular basis. I have been to a nutritionist. Nothing yet seemed to help. I am hoping that changes tomorrow. This time it is different. I refuse to hit 300 pounds. If that happens, my only hope is to quit my job and go on the Biggest Loser. Work out 6 hours a day every day and eat rice cakes. I hope it does not come to that.

I know a lot of friends and family say I am not that bad off. But I know my body. I know how I need to catch my breath after going down stairs. I know I am the guy at work you can hear breathing as I walk down the hallway. I wish I could blame it on my “asthma”. But it’s more likely me being overweight.

So with that, I canceled our RSVP for Rango tomorrow and will be going to the gym. I am hoping it will be fun.

Wish me luck.
